“Exploitation is lurking everywhere”

On June 23, the municipality presented an action program to tackle human trafficking. Expert Philip Veerman studied the plans and spoke to employees of SHOP (an organization that does care coordination in the region). Maria Scali and Nicole Harms give a few (anonymized) examples from the practice of the Foundation for Help and Reception of Human Trafficking (SHOP). A fourteen-year-old girl who was forced to get into the car with a man who then arranged for customers to have sex with her. A sixteen-year-old boy who was pressured to deliver drug packs. A woman who had to roll spring rolls continuously and sleep there in the basement of a restaurant.
