De Nederlandse jeugdzorg is terughoudend met het uithuisplaatsen van kinderen. Als daartoe wordt overgegaan dan verdient pleegzorg de voorkeur boven residentiele zorg. Dilemma is dat pleegzorg enerzijds beoogt een zo gewoon mogelijke opvoeding te bieden, maar dat het anderzijds gaat over een formele indicatiestelling van bureau Jeugdzorg, waardoor met periodiek te evalueren hulpverleningplannen moet worden gewerkt. De recente term “good enough parents” duidt op het dilemma dat noch voor uithuisplaatsingen, noch voor terugkeer van een kind naar de eigen ouders sprake is van duidelijke criteria. In deze lezing wordt teruggeblikt op veertig jaar pleegzorg in Nederland.<\/p>\n

Rene de Bot heeft vele jaren in de jeugdzorg in Rotterdam gewerkt. Hij was oprichter en directeur\u00a0van het centrum voor Pleegzorg aldaar en landelijk actief bij de voorbereiding van nieuwe wetgeving omtrent jeugdzorg. Als senior consultant van de IFCO \u00a0(international foster care organisation) geeft hij regelmatig lezingen en trainingen in het buitenland. Op dit moment is hij betrokken bij de ontwikkeling van de pleegzorg in Bosnie, Montenegro en Moldavie.<\/p>\n
